A primitive is a base entity which has a presence that can own content. The most basic primitive included with Box Social is the user.
Derived primitives are ones which the user can own, but can also own content themselves. The most basic derived primitive is the application.
Other derived primitives may be installed as independent applications. Examples are user groups, social networks, and music applications developed for Box Social.
