Box Social is a social media project about one thing, freedom.

This is why the source code is published under the GNU GPLv3, to give freedom to the community to evolve the project.

We only use open standards, such as xHTML, ISO 23270:2006 (C# 2.0), SVG, and RSS. But we not only use the standards, we comply with them, all pages being xHTML 1.0 strict.
